: What Scope if any is best for 10 Meter Target Shooting?

Anyone out there with good advice on what power or types of scopes that are used?

Gene , Are you talking about shooting 10 meters standing- off hand? If so , it's mostly shot with irons . But, I shoot 10 meters with a scope all the time for fun and that's all we're going to doing anyways . I'm no purest , LOL I shoot my AA s400's with the Simmons whitetail Classics on them , but I usually turn them down to 6.5X .It helps with the bouncing around some. kirby

I mean it in a general since. Standing or sitting at a rest. Is there actually any 10 meter competition shooting from a rest?

Formally ?Not that I know of , but that doesn't mean we can't shoot some from a rested position . I think the regular 10 meter rifle target would be tough to clean shooting from a rest with a scope at 10 meters . That 10 ring is about the size of a period (.) kirby WOW ! I JUST HIT 1500 posts .

Gene
All the 10m competition that I know of are ALL non-optic sights.

But if you shoot at home for fun, use what you want.
Personally, in the standing position, I find that I have to use the LOWEST power scope.  The reason for this is WOBBLE.  The scope magnifies my wobble, and the higher the magnification the worse the wobble looks.  And for me, that also causes a visually induced motion sickness.

For fun, I've shot a 12x on my FWB-300 from a bench, just to see how small a target I can reliably hit.
My next is to get a higher power scope for that rifle.

Running Target air rifle allowed for scopes. They had an overall length limitation, I think it was 11." They used fairly low power scopes in the 4x - 7x power range.

Air Rifle Bench Rest competitions are shot at 25m and 50m. The BR folks use very high power scopes in that competiton.

As I see it , at the moment we're just discussing what we would like to shoot in an online match at 10 meters . I see no problem in us having scope and open sight classes ; Also ,I see no problem in having both standing and sitting classes . we are not limited to rules set up by some others who thought their idea of a competition was the best way to do things. We are the GTA , this is to be a (friendly)GTA competition among friends , not a formal competition . I prefer making our own rules . so , lets open it folks with all your suggestions . kirby

And I totally agree with you David. I would think we have enough forums for shooting targets that we all can find our comfort zone..:) Many of us are older and many are young. And it does not matter what our targets look like but the fun of shooting them is fantastic..:)

So Target Shooting General should mean we can just say what we are shooting and shooting at what distance in what position and for instance what pellets and scope or iron sites used. For me I will learn from everyone who puts up pictures of there targets and what equipment was used etc etc.

Lets just have FUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN....:)
