That is the name of the drill. It is designed for firearms but there are ways to do it with airguns, you just have to be creative and maybe use a second gun. Here is the firearm version. Extrapolate.
IT TAKES TWO PEOPLE.
The assistant stands behind the shooter with the rifle. The assistant operates the bolt and may or may not chamber a bullet and then hands the rifle to the shooter who has no idea if the rifle is loaded or empty. The shooter then shoulders the weapon and attempts to shoot the target downrange. Either way it is a surprise. Good drill.
Tony, we'll do that one with the Daisy 853 this weekend if we shoot together.

Good idea! But don't try it with the B26, or you will get a surprise!! lol

OUCH! Nothing like an empty chamber to turn a spring into a box of rocks.

You can do this with a PCP...but ther gun still makes noise. I do it with my handgun students with Smith and Wesson model 10's in 38spl. Good way to stop the "flinch". Try this with any big bore handgun shooter...they will be surprised, but it also makes them better shooters. Air rifle shooting has really improved my big bore handgun shooting...maybe from cocking the things about 30-50 times every other day...or sometimes several times a day. Shooting magmum springers will give you forarms like Popeye the Sailor Man!

Why would this be posted under "springer rifle target"?
This drill is not good for springers.
I'll play it as long as it is not my springers being used......
