Here is what me and my Benjamin Discovery .22 can do consistantly at 70 yards now that I am very familiar with the rifle.
The info is on the pic. I was shooting off of shooting sticks, NOT A BENCHREST! If you've seen my other posts you'll know that my gun is completely "stock" (except for an extra barrel band).

I think I've got a real good rifle!
(groups at 70 yards never open up more than 2" if I'm focused)
Can any of your $1000+ PCPs shoot better than this?
Hope this helps those that are wondering about the accuracy of the Discovery.

That's some fine shooting! I must admit, I'm really tempted to get a Discovery .22 and this is just one more push towards the button! Only thing that I wonder about is the trigger! Is it an adjustable two stage or is it Gamo quality? I like the idea of shooting lying down without the contortions of a springer!

Hey Truman
The trigger is not 2 stage or adjustable BUT it is a very nice trigger in my opinion.
It only has about an 1/8" travel before firing. It isn't a "hair trigger" but you also don't have to tug on it. There's absolutely no creep and it is very smooth.
I would go for it and get a Discovery Truman, I'm sure you would not be disappointed.

Don't know.....sure would like to try and/or practice if I had that kind of distance to shoot with. heh heh Btw....incredible accurate shooting with your Discovery.

That's impressive! Nice showing off your gun and marksmanship! hehe I wish I could shoot 70yds in my back yard. About 50 is the most I can do right now unless I go near the road and shoot back towards my house. Then I think I can get 70-75yds.
Don't take this the wrong way, but aren't groups supposed to be measured in shots of 5? I only say this, because I 've had many same-hole first 3 shots (30-35yds usually), and then shot 4 or 5 'ruins' a perfect grouping, by that I mean say the first 3-4 pellets were 0.2" (one big hole) and the last shot bumps it up to 0.4 or 0.5". But if we are going to post 3-shot groups, I have a few that I didn't want to ruin with the 4th shot :-)
-
Ya they probably should have 5 shots, but I didn't want to risk ruining the sub 1" group with another 2 shots.
I will shoot some 5 shot groups at 70 yards and post them.

I think number of shots per group depends on your focus. Most hunters are very happy with a tight 3 shot group, because most (not you, Ed or Jeff!) may not fire more than 1 shot on a hunting trip. For more serious target shooting, 5 shots is a minimum, and other factors can influence the number. When I shoot my Cyclone, I tend to shoot 8 shot groups, just because it has an 8 shot magazine. For my single shots, 5 or 10 is my norm, although that can depend on how well I'm shooting :-). Some days, one shot is too many! Later.
