: How much does your RWS Model 54 weigh?
: jberenyi April 25, 2009, 11:17:29 AM
Just got my Demo RWS Model 54 in and wow is that baby heavy! I weighed mine and without a scope its 9lbs 10oz. With my Leapers scope it weighs 11lbs 4oz! According to specs it should weigh in at 9lbs. Not sure where the other 10oz is coming from. If I knew this gun would weigh as much as mine with a scope I may not have bought it from UMAREX. Time will tell if I like it.

Haven't weighed it but, if you stop and think about it, most high powered springers are heavy.  What the 54 has going for it is balance.  At least, mine feels like the weight is well distributed.

11.6 pounds with scope and mount. The weight listed by the factory is an estimate or average. It can vary from gun to gun a little because of the density of the wood.

I have noticed when tuning the RWS 54's that you are correct Red. Before and after tuning them I fire off a dozen shots pre and post tune. Of course I do it from my bench..:) But the 54 is a dang nice shooter off the bench. 12 lbs is just to much for me to carry around.. hehe .. By the way a tuned RWS 54 is allot easier on scopes than one that is not tuned..

Very heavy indeed.  Don't know what mine weighed but had to start lifting weights.  When the gun was right it was accurate with no recoil.  It did eat three scopes.  So hears my suggestion:  Season the barrel with 1000 shots or so, send it to a reputable tuner (very important), and do not get a cheap scope (ask the guys here on the forum for their suggestions).  I'am sending my HW97 to Gene for a turbo tune.  Do not send your gun to anyone who lives in PA, trust me on this.
Your going to love this Diana 54.

what helps me with my 48 .22 cause basically they weigh the samebut mine weigh 10lbs 2oz everything on it adds to it  .the droop compensator helps very much as far as the hold is concern the droop comp. r very strong it holds my airforce scope 4-x16x50 real tight and hasnt got lose yet plus with the recoil it has the scope still holds its been on 7months and has never gave me any problem and yes i shoot it 3 to 4 x a week and during the week i put 125 to 170 pellets in her at 37 yds and in doors at 10 yds just in case i change peelet to scope the rifle before goin shootin.
