I have a brand new Whisper VH. If you don't count the Daisy pump I bought my kids 15 years ago I'm totally new to this.
I got a small bottle of GAMO Air Gun Oil with the gun and I also picked up one of those cheap Gamo cleaning kits. I read that it's a good idea to give a new gun a cleaning before use. What's the best first time cleaning protocol? Is this oil good for cleaning the barrel or just oiling moving parts, if so which ones and should a new gun need oiling? Thanks.

Good morning Jim. Welcome to the GTA. The library is a great place to start, but the search engine here at the GTA is great.
Goo gone is an excellent product for cleaning the barrel. I tie a cleaning patch to a piece of 30# monofilament fishing line with a slipknot and pull it through the barrel from breech to muzzle. Some guys have used string trimmer line for the same purpose, they heat one end to form a small bulge and cut the other end sharp to pierce the patch, either way,it works.
The people here are more than willing to help at anytime and there are no dumb questions,so just feel free to ask anything.
A word of warning, air gunning can be very addictive,so start putting a little money aside because you are going to need it.LOL. good luck and good shooting, snookman
