Roald and I messed around shootin with it for a while and we both agreed it was hittin pretty hard. Or so we thought...We set up the chrony and did a 10 shot round through the chrony with .177 CPL's. Here are the numbers in order.

• 782.9
• 768.9
• 763.5
• 774.1
• 779.7
• 774.7
• 774.2
• 786.3
• 781.5
• 782.4

The gun has been well used is in great shape for the age it is I am guessing around 10+ years old. I think that the spring and seal are a little tired hence the lower velocities. So a spring/seal/lube is definately in its future. I am guessing these things prolly shoot in the high 800's low 900's with a good tune and spring and seal. Sure seemed like it was hittin harder than it was though....

I think they shoot around  800 w/ 7.9 grain pellets. Sounds like you got a fun project ahead of you.

Hey, John, try some different pellets.  I've had low velocities with CPL's in some of my guns, similar to what you got, but RWS Superdomes would be close to 900 fps.  Just a thought, good luck.

900 numbers are more on line of the 350. Check out Straight Shooters web  for results.

Those are not real bad numbers John, for an RWS 34 stock as a rock air rifle..:) I think mine when I bought it was around 800 average and after breakin and tune I am close to the 850 fps mark, with RWS Superdomes 7.9gr pellets. It is a great shooter. Fantastic accuracy as well. Here is a couple pictures after I installed the rubber butt plate.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am thinking that with a good lube tune that I will prolly pick up a little more power but not what I was expecting. I like Gene's butt pad idea and will proly spend the money on a decent buttpad when I get into the gun. I feel the gun has been used but not abused so I have a good working base to start with. It is a very nice feeling gun.. it is very comfortable to me and I am really looking forward to putting some time into it.

John, while those #'s may be just a tad low, not by much. The spread is only 22.8 so the seal is not too terribly tired, so I wouldn't exspect alot more from a good tune. I will say that it is a keeper 10+ years old and still that consistent is very good. I think that after a tune and breakin it will be around 5, which doesn't seem like much, until you look at the targets. That's just my thoughts and I don't know much since I've just recently gotten back into airgunning,hehe.

Gene, I just noticed the grain on your 34, ever think about letting her go naked with a oil bath,hehe. :o I know it is not Maple, but it has some real nice tiger stripe and flame paterns, unless it just looks that way in the pic. :0 but I bet it looks even better in person. 8)

I thought that would catch your eye Mike..:) When I got the two RWS 34's, one with picture you see that was made in early 90's and the new RWS 34 that I have not shown anyone yet..:) A definer difference in grain.. The newer one has pretty grain running length of stock where the older model has the grain as you say, running up and down.. I thought this was kinda peculiar myself but now that you mention it, you may be on to something here...:) Both stocks are flawless with no dings or visible marks.. Maybe some day I will try what you said and see how it comes out.. But the older one is definetly a keeper for sure..:)

Yeah it's hard to put the random orbit to work, when there are no marks on the stock and it looks sooo good as is. :0

FWIW, just as a comparison, I'm getting 875 fps from my new RWS 34 Panther shooting 7.9 gr. Crosman Premier Super Match pellets.
