Would love some very basic pointers on setting up and using a shooters bench for AG and small bore rifles.  Thanks.

The library has some stuff on shooting benches and how to use one properly. As for assembly, Gene_SC has a thread with pics of his homemade bench. There's a list of what he used, prices, etc.

do you want a portable bench or something that is permanent?

Methinks I will get one of the table top shooting rests with adjustable front and rear rests, then build myself a permanent, but fairly simple shooting bench to plop it on at in my place in the mountains.
