Winnie 800 Sighted In :)
« on: April 23, 2009, 12:42:34 PM »
Well, spent about 2 ours in the backyard range this morning doing pellet grouping tests at 25 yards with my $45  Winchester 800  refurb.....

I shot groups from every .177 pellet type I had on the shelf and was pleased to find that the 800 shot quite a few of them very well.  The 2 pellets she liked the best though were predators and JSB Exact Express.  I was very happy that she liked those 2 pellets as I figured I could  use the Exacts this summer for birds and then resight her in in the fall with the predators for small game hunting.

Anyway, did the final sight in with the JSB's at 25 yards,,,, here's a pic of the final 10 shot group.  (I did have 1 flyer but that was me jerking the trigger).

I love this little gun.  It actually has a decent trigger which really surprised me,,,, it's accurate,,,, and judging by the way the pellets were smacking the metal spinners I have it's really spitting the  pellets out with authority.  Gonna chrony it tomorrow, but I really think it's shooting faster than 800 FPS..

Anyway, here's the pic....

Thanks guys...  She really is a good little shooter, I'm really looking forward to getting my first starling with her  :)

I have a BSA 4x32 on her now..... got that scope for $18 bucks on sale and with a coupon.....   but considering how well she shoots I may consider putting the 3x9x32 Golden Antler I just received.....  For right now I'll just leave her as is though.....

This is really a funny sport we are addicted to isn't it ???   I have some  expensive guns down in my gun safe and here I am all psyched up about this cheap refurb...   :)

There's just something about a cheap gun that shoots well that gets me all pumped up  :)

Excellent shooting, Jeff.  Man, you're gonna have a ball with this one.  Yeah, this is a strange sport.  All I have now are just cheap rifles, I can't imagine what it's going to be like when I get into the expensive stuff...Man, I want an Eliminator sooooooooooo bad...lol

I know how you feel Jeff,

My un-tuned B-3 is also very accurate, I must be a very lucky air gunner, hehe, If it didn't scare me so badly with that bolt. and so hard to load with my big old fingers, she would be a favorite for sure !

We expect the high dollar air guns to perform well, and they usually do, but when you find an inexpensive one that makes you smile !

So enjoy your good fortune buddy !!!! I know that you will !

Bill, I just put her in her gun case and slid her under the back seat of the truck  along with a tin of JSB EXacts ..

She's ready for duty  :)

Thanks Ed,,, I think she's gonna be a great hunter.....

Jorge,,,, Like I said,, I haven't chrony'd her yet but she is hitting REALLY HARD....... the way she's slamming my heavy metal spinners I can tell she's packing more than 800 FPS  :)

She's gonna stay my truck gun...... I made a nice cushioned rest out of a thick blanket so she'd have something soft to lie on under the seat and that along with the nicely padded rifle case I slid her into  she'll be well protected and ridin nice and soft  :)
