Daisy 717 leaking when assembeled
« on: February 22, 2007, 02:11:57 PM »
Hi Y'all

I have a Daisy 717 that suddenly developed a leak.

I hadn't used it in a while and when I went to shoot it again it had developed a leak. So I searched the archives and found how to replace the seals. I orded some seals and looked a bit further and someone said sometimes you just get a bit of funk in there so I took it apart and cleaned it out.

After a few tries the pump mechanism works fine when the gun isn't assembeled. In fact it works like a charm until you go to put the left hand face plate on (the last part) that's held down bu the three screws that basically hold th gun together. As soon as you put that plate on it leaks then pumped.

I have no idea what's going on here.

Can someone help me out?

Thanks

Adam

take a good look at the last picture in this how-to:

The long arm of that rat-trap spring may not be in the right place on your pistol...if under the tube, then it tends to (1) make reassembly a pain and (2) keeps the seal from fully sealing.
