« on: April 04, 2010, 07:38:58 AM »
This showed up in a Big5 ad, curious if anyone has experience with this type...or what's recommended.
Thank you.

arbantelope,

That looks like the bench rest that one of my local shooting ranges has as a loaner.  I've used it twice, and it's okay.  The adjustments work fine, but it's pretty lightweight.  Of course, that might be a feature, not a bug ;-)

I can't speak about the seat.  If the price is for both, then it's a very good deal.

Cheers,

Bobby

I started using a camera tripod to shoot off of when Im not in the garage. I filled a sock with rice, set it on the camera tripod and sit in a foling lawn chair. I can carry all this to the swamp and its rock steady to shoot off of. Its also alot more versatile than a base like those.

DJ, I'm liking that rice rocket tripod deal.  I think that's a better way to go for versatility.
Thank you.

Hey DJ, the camera tripods work great. I bought one for myself here a few months ago. I have made a few adaptor plates for Tommy Cupples and he uses them on his with a small gun rest pad strapped to them. Soon as I get the time I will finish the one I have..:) I love shooting off of those..:) Very mobile. You just need small portable chair and you are set..:)

The camera tripod is the bomb. I put the chrony on it the camera on it or I can shoot off it. The 3 individualy adjustable legs make it good for uneven ground and when you throw the rice sock on it it cradles any gun. I sit in one of those chair that has all the poles and fold into a carry bag so I can sling it over the shoulder. Works great. Glad I could help y'all.
