Free "eBook" on the Stoeger X10, X20 and X50
« on: May 18, 2010, 12:40:49 PM »
I've published a free "eBook" on the Stoeger X10, X20 and X50 air rifles to bring together much of the information I've been collecting on them. You can either read the book on-line or download it as a PDF file to read or print.

The book has much information on the specifications for these air rifles, together with test data, including muzzle velocity results, test targets and the results of testing different pellets in the same gun. I hope that you will find it of use. My plan is to up-date the book with more information as it becomes available, so there will be several versions in future. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions for additional information or content that you would like to see.

You can find the book at:

If you have Stoeger questions this is a great go to site. If it's open for any additions? Maybe a trouble shooting sections. Thanks Steven for all the info.

Gene,

I know that there's lots of links to Facebook on the site hosting my book, but you don't have to be a Facebook member to read it! To download you need to register with scribd, that's all.

Walt, thanks for the excellent suggestion. I'll look to include a trouble-shooting section in the next version.

Howie, the original power plant came from the old Chinese B-19. Gamo used it as well as Crosman and of course many others. Stoeger is using the same design but with a small alteration of the trigger safety. If I had to guess, the Stoeger is coming out of the same plant in China that Crosman is using for there Quests and other 1000 fps springers.

Howie,

Both the Stoeger and various Crosman air rifles are manufactured in China by BAM. At the SHOT Show earlier this year, the BAM people confirmed to me they would be concentrating further on "OEM " work (eg supplying Crosman and Stoeger) at the expense of their own brand models, hence the on-going disappearance of BAM-branded guns from the market.

As with most OEM manufacturers, BAM usually starts with some basic parts or designs they have already and then customizes the basic design to the requirements of their customer. This provides a quick and relatively cheap form of product development, with most differences being in visible items such as stocks and the levels of quality testing and production tolerances specified by the customer.

There you have it folks.. Steve just put the facts straight. Just by looking at the build I could tell that I had seen these powrplants many times ...:) I think Stoeger did a good job on the specifications including the nice wood and trigger safety. I always like the safety on my guns where I can use my thumb to disinagate it. The BIG PLUS is it is on auto safety when you cock it, just like the RWS and other well made springers.
