bulkfill confused
« on: April 22, 2009, 09:11:17 AM »
i have the qb78 deluxe and have decided to go the whole hog and tune up and modify my qb.
i have all the instructions and seals etc but can not decide what bulk fill option to use....we brits have limited paintball outlets and so im a bit lost as to what is best.

anyone got any ideas or spare bulk fill adapters for sale so i can try a few options?
i like this one if anyone has an idea bout it

Got bad news and worse news.

Worse news is that the adaptor you pictured isn't being made right now (believe the owner of that shop passed away a year ago).
BAd news is that the QB79 gas block is currently out of stock in the US.
If you're looking for good news, afraid I'm out.

Understand that co2 isn't as easy to come by for you as it is for US shooters.  Becasue of that, I'd lean towards buying a LOT of it once I found a supplier...like 20 pounds or more of it in a large tank.

From that tank would bulk-fill the rifle using the standard bulk fill end cap (see the Archer's Airgun site).
-------
With that same bulk fill end cap, could run the rifle from a remote line connected to whatever sized paitball tank you could find...or with a bit of adapting, could run it from a large size (+20 pound) co2 tank...or could run the rifle from a remote line hooked to a large sized regulated paintball type air tank....or could put the standard end cap back on and run it from 12gr. cartidges.

Have seen stardard end caps that have been converted to bulk fill.  the standard end cap has a knurled collor held on by a screw.  Can remove the screw, remove the knurled collor, drill though the end cap length wise (about 1/8" seems to wrok fine),  drill and tap the upper end of the hole for a fill nipple (one of the paintball valved HPA type nipples).  Drill the knurled cap slighty larger so it will spin on the fill nipple (the knurled cap is just there to pull the  central part down into the tube as you screw it on, it doesn't seal).

But unless you are set up to drill and tap and have a fill nipple at reasonably cost, it's not a good option.  But if you are able to do that, would only be the cost of the fill nipple.

Drilling the cap removes the piercing teat on that end, so it could still be used with 12grs. but only the one down into the tube would be pierced (by the valve's peirecing stem).

sweet....likn the info.

i was referred to T R Robb...a local uk guy who has everything from pre tuned parts to bulk fill/pcp conversion kits...
bit pricy for the american crowd but well worth looking at for uk tuners.
