on/off vavle question?
« on: September 16, 2009, 12:56:50 PM »

Hi there guys and Gal's.

 I have a QB79 on/off question.

Today I recived a super duper pimping QB79 that I'm still drooling over.

I immediately hauled my butt to Walmart and bought two 9oz PB tanks.I really wanted 3.5oz tanks but they did not have any.I also checked the Sports authority and my Bass pro Shops.NOTHING!

After buying said tanks i went to my local PB shop to fill the tanks. WOW,only 3bucks to fill each tank. I think that's pretty cheap.

So after B.S.ing with the kid, I asked for a on/off valve witch he took out from behind the counter..He hooked it up to the tank and turned the valve on....Nothing happened..??WTH???So the kid grabbed another one and hooked it up....Same thing so I did not buy it..Well on my ride home ,I got to thinking...Maybe the on/off valve only works when its hooked up to the rifle...We were checking it only on the bottle...

So here's my question..Does the on/off valve need to be hooked up to the QB to work?

cuz it did not just hooked up to the tank and turned on to see if Co2 would shoot out.

Thanks guys for any info.

Sorry for the ramble before the question,I just got back from HOOTER'S.....YEAHHHHH BUDDDYYYYY!

edit: Tank brand is Stryker .

I also bought some spyder high performance paint ball marker oil.

I believe that's the way they're supposed to work. I have this one from Archer:

http://www.archerairguns.com/QB79-On-Off-Valve-p/aaqb79valve.htm

If I hook a tank up to it and turn it on, it make a quick hiss then stops. But if it's hooked up to the rifle, it charges the gun with no problems. I think it has to do with back pressure, but I'm not sure.

The On/Off valve you looked at might also have a shrader valve in it like the paintball tank does. If it does, then it won't release ANY gas in the on position unless it's hooked up to a gun.

Its identical to the one on archers link. The kid tried two of them and they did not work. Then he tried my new tanks to one of the display PB guns to check if my tanks were ok.No problem, the PB gun shot..No problems with my tanks.
It had to be that the valve is made to feed co2 when hooked to tank and gun.Makes sense. They were asking $25 bucks for the valve. Ill go back to the PB shop and pay for it tomorrow. Archers not coming back till the 22nd of this month. I CANT WAIT THAT LONG.:) ..The kid that runs the PB shop must be like 16 or 17 Y/O. Ill hook the kid up with my business.
Thanks again Sdale :)
