TF89 Front Sight and Crown

I glassed my TF89 .22 last week and let the Locktite set for 2-3 days. Yesterday I finally got a small break in the weather to try and zero it in.I mounteda Center Point 4-16X40-AO Ipicked upat Wally World. I set my targets up at my usual 25 yards. It took several shots just to get it on paper. Using a Shoot-N-C 8" square target. After about a dozen shots, I finally got it on bull. A couple of shots later, it'sup and right 2". Re-zero, back on. Couple shots, back off again. This ain't right. This is the first scope I've had issues with. Oh, and I'm using an Accushot 1 piece mount, it's very secure and not moving. I was also not impressed with the light gathering of this particular scope. My Benji SS came equipped with one of these same scopes and it's rock solid, very clear anddoes a fine job of gathering light. So, I took this one back and swapped it for a Bushnell Sportsman 4-12X40-AO instead just to see how it worked.

Now, while mounting this scope, I thought I'd take a look at the crown. Hmmm, there is no crownthat I can see. So, I think this MAY have been part of the problem with shifting POI. I removed the loctited screws in the front sight/muzzle breakbut it's not budging. Before I put tools to this, I wanted to see if anyone has removed themuzzle break and can offer some tips. I really don't want to ding up the rifle but think I need to get a crown on this barrel.

Okay, change of story. After taking some close up photos of the end of the barrel and the muzzle break, I see a slight crown. Dooohhhh......What my eyes couldn't see, even with a magnifying glass. Should there be MORE of a crown? If not, the scope was probably the real culprit. But suggestions on getting this muzzle break off is still appreciated.

Dave, you need a heat gun and past it over the muzzle break a few times to soften the glue they use to hold it in place. Be careful exercise some caution, so you do not melt the plastics. It must get hot in order to break the glue. Use a block of wood and catch the edge and gently tap it off. Have to to this a few times to get it off.Good Luck and do not melt it..........Bill

I didn't have a heat gun handy so I used the wife's hair dryer, took a little longer but it came off with block of wood and small rubber mallet like Bill said. Also the Beeman Universal or Ported Muzzlebrakes will fit this gun.Have been thinking of chopping off 6" and recrowning this barrel. Guns a little long for me.
