Wife's out of town, so what else is a guy to do? The Talon has been shooting quite well, but I haven't chronied it for awhile. Tonight, I rectified that situation. To those that don't know me and mine, I have a Talon SS, older model. Other than a 24" .22 barrel, it's stock. I fill mine with nitrogen, I live in the sticks so that ended up being the most economical way without pumping. Did I mention I'm also lazy :-)?
First "pic" is of my chrony results. It confirmed something I've suspected, my first few shots after filling are on the hot side. Surprisingly enough, they're also usually right on. I shot the Crow Mags just because they were sitting on my bench, but they don't do well in this gun. Kodiaks are the run away top pellet for this rifle, with the Eun Jins being a good second. Speaking of which, I have no idea of where the 2 screamers came from. These usually fit really tight in my barrel, maybe those two were a little undersize or under weight. If so, I didn't notice it when I loaded them.
The first target is with a fresh fill, one shot per bull, in the numbered order. I could make all kinds of excuses, but I'll just leave it alone. I will say the problem ISN'T the gun :-)! Range was 30 yards, grid is 1 MOA @ 30 yards. Bull is 1/4".
Target two continued on the same fill from target 1. I only took 3 shots per bull, mostly because I knew fatigue was catching up with me. My usual 5 shot groups would not have looked too good. Also shot at 30 yards, grid is 1/2", center of bull is also 1/4".
I gotta tell ya, these Talons are great little shooters. Might not be the best choice for a first time Dark Sider, but it's my first, and I've certainly been having a ball! And once the new grip from Dano gets here, it can only get better. I'll bet I even shoot better :-)! Later.
