The first thing I did on mine was to remove the stock and strip it of the chinese thick snot finish.  Then put it in you hands and shoulder it.  Contour all rough edges and shape it to what feels good to you.  I then put on a cherry stain and satin poly urethane on it.  Man you can change the feel of the rifle and the looks.  It willl take considerable effort to strip of the finish.  I had to scuff the surface with 120 grit then put on the zip strip.  Before scuffing the orignal finish the zip strip would bead up like a freshly waxed car.  After all that was said and done I made a 1 3/4 inch but extention and put on a pachmeyer butt pad.  Fit and finish are now good to go.  Try this, I'll check back and maybe post some pictures in a couple weeks when the Army gives me a break. :emoticon:  :emoticon:

Tim Null made this ambi stock for my AR2078a -- he does very nice work, and it makes the rifle a real pleasure to shoot.

What does something like this cost?  I work for a custom cabinet shop and wonder if they can do it?  How can I get dimensions for it

Well, I don't know if the price is still the same, but I paid Tim $2 bills for this one.  He had posted several of his custom stocks that were similar in appearance.  I specifically asked him for an ambi version, gave him the length of pull I wanted, and described that I had x-large size hands and wanted the grip sized accordingly.  This is what he sent, and it seems he knows his business pretty well.

Haven't seen TimN post in a while.
