Daisy Powerline 880
« on: January 31, 2009, 12:20:53 PM »

I just got home today from my last nutter hunt, (bag-1) and found my sons 880 at my nephews house and brought it home.
It was dark outside, no one home but me so......

I put a 3-7X20 tasco on it, grabbed a phone book and zeroed in at 10 yards in the hall way to back bed room.
I was trying to get rid or these gamo magnums. They shoot terrible in my TX200 so I thought I would blow them away.
Afetr 5 shots, I was hitting the same hole. Dang...
An 880 and gamo magnums are a tuff team. I ran a couple JSB diabalos through them and the 880 did not like them at all. Run a few more
Gamos - tattered hole shooting again. I just spent well over $1000.00 on my two rifles that I love to death but if I had know of this combo!
This would have been my nutter gun this year. Oh well, my son will love it. For all that matters, I just found my wife the rifle to plink with and if she can hold steady with it...... I'm scared to think what she will do against the TX. I'm not joking.

Before you dismiss the 880, try the Gamo mags.

Paul...This last Christmas I refurbished my cousin's 880. New barrel, shroud, O rings and seals. I loved that thing. No scope just the iron sights and that thing was shooting fantastic. I found the Daisy Premium Grade Pointed Pellets worked best.

Thats what the gamo mags are, pointed tips.
I may try some of those Daisys and see what she does.
The only thing I want to fix on this girl is the trigger.
Feels like I need a tow truck to pull it.

Do not underestimate this gun.

Very light, no recoil, very quiet, easy to pump, hard hitting, and deadly accurate!

Derek, Glad that 880 found what it likes! How long have you had it? This afternoon I was at Wallyworld, looking for the Crosman Premier HP's everybody is enjoying. I was not pleased to find that the only .22 pels they had were...shudder...the Daisy 13.5 gr WC. In spite of all the warnings here, I got a tin. I figured I'd as least get some new velocity figures for the log. At 10 pumps the first shot fell right where called...it was the last one that did ! Those things went all over the place...velocities ran from 756 to 791 in eight shots! I laughed and put 'em aside. Later, being hungry for more punishment, I gave them a second chance with 5 pumps. 8 out of 10 fell into 5/16 " at 578 fps avg...with ES of 7....hmmmm. Ya never can tell, can ya? .....I even read that pointed pels were a waste-o-time ! lol
  Loving my pumper.

Came home today to, "guess what your redneck son did?".

LOL, takes after his old man. He was shooting out the bedroom window at a target in the yard.
It was cold and a little damp I think. He was so thrilled, he told me he shot a penny off a post.

Makes a popa's heart proud.

Get em son
