If so, can you provide pics of the set up?

Hey Walter,

Perhaps if you explained what you mean by STEROIDS ?

I know that I don't. Do you mean HPA, or PCP ?

Bill, I was looking for mods to increase fuel or change out to HPA

The powerlets suck and there was some thread going about the best way to go for power.  I went to the paintball store this morning with my 2078a and showed him what I wanted to do.

I pitched the fill device that came with the rifle and bought a pig tail and 20 ounce bottle.  The tube adaptor is still used with the quick disconnect fronm the pigtail

He said I would get 3000 shots of of it, I got 250 today and I am worn out!  This is a cool little rifle!

I also think I found a way to convert it to be like a 79 if my bud can mill the aluminum to fit my barrel.  Then I will use the 12 oz? bottle that can be bought anywhere and is slightly larger than the 8o gram crosman bottle

That works

Will get a lot of shots, but not as many as he claims.  Figure a standard rifle is using between .4 and .5 gr. of gas per shot.  IF you never lost any co2 (and you will lose quite a bit every time you stop shooting and bleed that line)...and if that 20 oz. tank was really filled with 20oz  (some shops will short fill), would expect between 1000 and 1400 shots.   In the real world, are doing good to get 1000shots.

That's still a bargain, assuming a typical $5-$6 refill for that 20oz. tank.  My cheapest price on 12gr. would c ost me $19 for that 20oz. (and more common price of 12gr. that would be about $23).  Would take an amazing $66 to equal 20oz. of co2 in AirSourse cartridges.
...can figure it any way you like, but 20oz. of co2 is equal to 560 grams.  At 12 gr. a powerlet, would take  46 2/3 of them to equal 20oz.  At 88gr. an AirSourse can, would take 6 1/3 of them to equal 20oz.

He freezes them to get a better fill and because I bought it from him he will fill at $3 a fill!  He had some great hpa ideas.  I am going to try them  out soon!

HPA can be done...
« Reply #5 on: February 07, 2009, 12:29:48 PM »
...just like you run that remote 20oz. tank.  Can run a larger HPA tank (suggest 850psi output) with the same remote line.

Can convert to a tanker, but it's going to take some work.

It is a whole lot simpler to start out with an AR2079.

Can you remove the paint ball hose from the gun or does it need to be always hooked up ? I used the same fill set up from the paint ball set up but I only bought the valve that goes on the paint ball tank, and put the hose ( braided hose ) on the paint ball fitting and added a T and a pressure release valve to bleed off the pressure this way I can remove the tank, and if I want to fill just re attache  it and fill. howie

I think I will leave the tank attached.  There is no regulator on this set up.  What I have done is once I am done shooting, I turn off the co2 and disconnect and shoot off the remain air.  I believe that If I wanted to go hunting, I can get 5-6 good shots with the remaining tube air.  I tested that theory yesterday and had no poi loss.

The pig tail is flexible and the 20 oz'er can be sleeved and put on a belt if I wantedon demand air in the field

I think so, the difference being HPA vs co2.

Get one with slider, you can disconnect just sliding the red thing backwards or forward for demand. I took the remote hose and added a 1 1/2  inch 1/8 NPT brass pipe nipple from lowes for $1.89 so not to waste co2. I only reconnect the coiled remote on long shooting. I got mine for $24.99 shipped. :emoticon:

All it is a 1/8 in npt  " T"   and   valve some thing like what you would find in your car radiator at the bottom to drain the anti the water. I would try an auto parts store about  a couple of bucks I just happen to have one laying around  all it needs to bo is hold the pressure while filling then you can bled of the pressure before removing  the quick release  fitting from the rifle but you must turn off the pressure from the co2 bottle  howie

You don't need a regulator the beauty of CO2 is when it changes from a liquid to a gas it is in the 800 psi range I don't remember the exact amt. but you get a consent pressure to push the pellet out it is consent as long as the CO2  is full enough . howie
