Match results

Holy pellet gun, Batman! We had 17 people shoot in our first match. According to my computer clock it is only 11:52 Eastern time. We could have some more entries come in but this seems like a huge success to me. You west coast types and Aussies and New Zealanders still have time.

We all had the privilege of shooting with Olympian Mick the fuzzy limey who shot a fantastic 199. Good job there my friend. Any thing you want to share with us is greatly appreciated. Fellow GTA members, Mick is a warehouse of information on shooting and a very fun read.

Kirby999 is currrently in a strong 2nd place with 191. Keep shooting like that and I'll be buying an Air Arms pcp just to play catch up.

DaveD has 3rd cornered with 189

MartinDWhite is currently running away with an easy 4th place with 183.

Black Mamba is currently in 5th posting 178.

Regardless of how you feel everybody shot extremely well and you should all feel pumped. hahaha
So, any suggestions

I had a great time shooting in earnest with my new Bam B-26.
Daisy 853 with apertures; FWB 300S with apertures; Mike Melick tuned B-26 and B-40.

Thanks Charlotte ... but don't forget I used my antiquity and infirmity as a feeble excuse to "cheat" by sitting down to shoot - lol !   I'm going to experiment in the coming weeks with shooting from the Standing position, but having some sort of support - maybe a wall or trestle - for my Butt or Hip to steady my wobbly legs.   On "good days" I have some feeling there, but need some re-assurance that when one of the nerve spasms "hit", (sort of like a severe electric shock), that I don't suddenly jerk the rifle and let fly a pellet in some uncontrolled direction.
Congratulations David ... Good shooting.

Mick

Great job on the first match everyone!.  Thank you, Charlotte, for helping to bring this aspect of shooting to the GTA "officially.  You are dong a fantastic job.  And  congratulations, Mick.  Seated or standing, that is a really fine score.  Charlotte tells us you are a former Olympian!  Excellent.  And great shooting, Dave Kirby.  Though having seen you in action at Gene's shoot last summer, I suspected nothing less.  But most surprising of all to me is my brother Jerry's score of 174 with his new CZ-634 springer!   Wow, Jerry, not to shabby!  I think I am going to have to send you my Daisy 853 and a copy of The Ways of the Rifle and let you shoot a single pump 10 meter gun with a Lothar Walther barrel just to see how good you really are.  I had intended to compete but ended up out of town Thurs-Sun and missed the deadline.  Got to start practicing for Match #2!

A very enjoyable weekend! The competition adds to the shooting! Even though I shot like a muppet, I gives me a goal to aim for! How about setting up a league table where over the course of say a year, you have to shoot a total of 30 targets. If you miss a week, you catch up the following week but not more until all 30 are done. Then you have people to chase!

Sorry I missed this one, and hope you have another!

Congratulations to some outstanding shooters. This certainly raises the bar, and will give me a badly needed chance to sharpen some skills. That's the goal of competition anyway.

Pretty cool to see the array of gun choices, and see some springers showing up in the high scores! I will need to get busy.

Thanks Charlotte for organizing the match....and all the other members that gave input for which targets, format and how to properly shoot off-hand etc.
Anything with a challenge only makes you better and something to aim for.  Gotta go practice more for the 2nd match......

What's with the 199? You're not extracting revenge over uswhipping up on Cornwallis are you? I thought you guys would be over that by now.

Actually No, Charlotte !

Although I should mention that when I first came over here 50-odd years ago ... Winston C. pulled me to one side before I boarded the Queen Mary and suggested that I take up residence somewhere along the Mason-Dixon Line.   This, he said, would make it more convenient for me to pop back and forth across the "border" as I fermented a continuation of the strife atwixt North and South.   Then when the time was ripe ... and both parties heavily enaged in partisan activities .... I should step in firmly and re-claim our "Biggest County" in the name of the Crown.   I'm still working on it - lol !

As for the Olympian activities, you failed to mention that this was so long ago that the games were still being staged in the grounds of the Parthenon, and we all wore snazzy little one piece frilly  white "tunics" with a hemline at mid-thigh

Mick!

Thank you for setting up a friendly competition.  It was a first for me and I really enjoyed it.

Learned a good thing or two about my rifle as well.

Good job to ALL....'cept for Truman cause he "Shoots like a muppet."    (That cracked me up quite a bit!)

Thanks guys!  I loved shooting with y'all.  (Yes, I'm southern)
I really enjoyed using my new B-26 and I was pleasantly surprised that my sight picture was very good with my regular glasses, but I would like BAM to open up that notch in the rear sight just a bit.  I need to get the 1st stage out of that trigger and I'm going to shorten the LOP on my stock as well, but still I really like this Chinese springer.

We`re trying to have one each week.Post the scores, infomation (gun, pellet, scope or iron sights, magnification, temperatures, windetc.) and pics (Appreciated) by Sunday midnight....... This will be using the Gamo single target or the Gamo 5 target sheet.

There`s another one going on....the "Steriod" 15 target sheet 10 meter off-hand match. This one the outer ring is only 24mm and the "white - bullseye" is 6mm. Also shot standing off-hand.
