Crossman Storm XT - Just off?
« on: March 07, 2009, 01:35:12 PM »
Hi!

Recently got a Crossman Storm XT for my son. (Ok, for me too)- I'm on my second scope.

My problem is - I can't seem to get it to zero. Oh, it's close, but I'm used to precision.
We got the gun, and he broke the iron sites on it pretty quick- Really couldn't determine whether the gun was off at that point, and the scope that came with it - well, it's in the trash. That thing was ridiculous.

So after a custom cam o job (Our first one, it came out pretty nice), we tried to get the scope on target. It's a Redhead model- not the best, but it seems to be holding. Problem being, at 15 yards, I'm consistently shooting 4 inches high. Currently using RWS Domes- The Hollow points are shooting the same pattern. Scope won't go up any higher, it's maxed out.

I'm using high profile dovetail mounts, (the kind where you could see the iron sights underneat them, if they worked)- If I used low profile mounts, would that take up some adjustment on the vertical of the scope? Seems I need to come up 4 inchs somehow.

Or, is it just a bad scope? I hear Gene does TurboTunes. I'm thinking I should pack it up, send it over, and just have him do the whole 9 yards. (Which I hear is a great idea, even on a weapon that's working as intended).

Any thoughts? I'm just 4 inches shy. The trigger is ridiculous I've noticed, and the twang is just killer.

Thanks!
