Well, the .177 Winchester 800 refurb that I ordered from sportsmansguide.com arrived today. I'm not a big refurb guy but they had the gun on sale and I also had a coupon so I wound up getting the gun for $45 bucks including delivery so I figured "what the heck". I figured I could always send it back if it was a lemon. Anyway,,,, long story short........ I am thrilled with the gun.
The metal looks flawless, not a scratch or mark on it. The bluing is nice and dark and even. The stock is very nice. The stock does have 2 or 3 very small marks on it but nothing that jumps out at ya. The lockup is nice and tight, it cocks nice and smooth, the firing cycle isn't as harsh as my Winchester 1000 or Daisy powerline 1000 and I was shocked to find that this 800 actually has a decent trigger.
I cleaned her up, gave her some lube and spent about 30 minutes in the backyard shooting some groups with the open sights using CPH's.
I was delighted to find the little gun shooting beautiful tight groups. I stayed out there killing spinners and tin cans until it started to get dark.
I took the rifle back down to my basement workshop and installed a BSA 4x32 which I also got from sportsmansguide.com awhile back. I used a coupon on that purchase also and got the scope for $18 bucks delivered. I have the gun sitting now so the loc-tite can cure for 24 hours,,, after that she's going to be placed under the rear seat of my truck to take her place as my official Truck Gun.
Total cost of my truck gun...... gun $45.... scope $18........ for a grand total of $63. God I love cheap guns that shoot hard and straight.
Took a couple of pics to show off my new cheap shooter... Was kind of dark in the basement so the pics stink but it's the best I could do.
