Dicks in Austin Tx was a bust
« on: June 08, 2009, 12:27:26 AM »
After drooling over all the pellet selection in the online Dicks I was really looking forward to checking out the new Dicks over by Lake Travis.  Its about 30 miles from the house so I havent' made it over there since they opened 2 years ago.  all I can say is what a bust.  I don't think that Dicks will survive in the Austin area.  All they had was Daisies and their  other stuff was pretty sparse too.  The Wal Marts and the local chain Academy Sports will kick their &*^%.  I thought Sportwmans Wharehouse was a bit weak but at least they have more than the generic pellets.  I'll have to go visit them and get some more Wolverines and JSB.

Dicks was a let down for me too when I wanted a Disco. They have online so I went to the store to get one and the guy tells me "we can't carry everything we have online our store would have to be huge" I asked If they could order it for me and ship it to the store, nope had to buy online.I ended up buying a 350 mag. from Cabelas, now I ish I'd held out for the Disco. No more Dicks for me.

The Dick's in Plattsburgh N.Y had a Discovery there....and I asked if they're going to get the Marauder and the salesman said he didn't know....and it's up to Crosman if they would send one or some to them.  They had the usual Crosman and Gamo air rifles....plus that big huge long one....another Crosman I believe (Forgot the name of it)....the one with a thumbhole stock and weights in around 10 pounds and kicks like a mule (So I've read).

They have the usual .177 Crosman, Daisy and Gamo pellets....not all types.  Only 2  .22 caliber types and only 1 .20 cal.....Sheridan brand.
Gamo: Expotec .177 + Big Cat .177 + Viper .177 + Whisper .177, Hammerli Titan .177, Diana model 24 .177, RWS-Diana P5 Magnum pistol .177, Crosman: G1 Extreme .177 + Storm XT .177 + Sierra Pro .177 + 1377 pistol .177, Air Arms S410SL .22, BSA Scorpion T10 .22, FX Cyclone .177, Remington Air Master 77 .177 + BB\'s,

Don -

Another local supplier bit the dust.  Sportsman's Warehouse closed the doors on their Round Rock store last month. When I saw they were building a Dick's out on the tollway, I was hoping they would help fill the void left by SW's departure.  After reading your post, it seems that won't be the case.

Our Sportsman's Warehouse closed its doors last September after less than 3 months in business. Sigh!
