got the chrony today and tested b26 not good!!!
« on: May 04, 2010, 10:40:03 AM »
I finally got my chrony today and immediately set it up and tested the B26 and results were horrible and this is the .177. the only thing she has going for her is consistency she spit two 10 shot strings with a high of 562 fps and a low of 548 fps the second string reflected almost the exact numbers as well she is extremely accurate from 10-30 yards. Now I would be *_*_*_*_*_*ed but I know what the problem is, I got curious and also love to tinker with everything so I replaced the seal that I had sized with an un sized new seal that felt alittle tight in comparison to the sized seal and what do you gain with a snug seal ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I fired of a few pellets and that was it. on that very day a gamo440 I purchased from a nice fellow Jon Mink had arrive that I had a gas ram on the bench  waiting for the guns arrival so that drew my attention and I neglected the B26 until I got my chrony today and decided to shot her again. all is not lost I have the good seal ready to go back in. so note #3 in my springer notes "NO TIGHT SEALS".

Hey Shady have a look at my post regarding the spring comparison. You may find some interesting data there. Your numbers are lower than mine and I am almost 7000 above sea level so I am wondering what is different between our 2 guns? My seal is from Mike, it is the smaller seal. What pellets did you use in the test?

hi mike... those numbers are just for fun i just thought i would try a few different setups since i have the tools to do it and love to mess with everything. the only thing learned here was unlike other thangs in life you don't want tight seals.i will fix her right on up real soon and since i own a chrony now i have several springs on the work bench i want to try. should be fun.

i would hate to see it be the spring but the same spring was pushing around 930 fps with the seal i originaly sized while doing the tune the only thing i did was swap the seals. originally this was only to see if the new seal was getting chewed up like the original was, just making sure there was nothing in the breech end of the tube that caused it and the seal looked great when i removed it and the apex seal in order to be 1thousands of an inch larger than the tube it had to be sized for it was really tight.
