BugBuster 3-9 scope on .177 Marauder?

The .177 Marauder I bought is nice and shoots well. In reading on here of folks shooting the bugs off their garden plants I am wondering if the 3-9 BugBuster scope is a good match for the Marauder in this calibre?

I have other scopes I can use but this idea of nailing the grasshoppers and pests sounds fun and having a scope focus very close to do so would be nice.

Is this scope a good match otherwise for blackbirds, gophers and such? Or is it more special purpose and not as good at longer distances?

The Bugbuster is just the name for the Compact Series.
I think the 12x or 16x in a full size is the way to go.

bugbusters have a real thick recticle and only really good for hunting and plinking. they are called that because they focus down to only 3yds. your better off wiith a full size scope.

While the bugbuster is a good scope I think its mainly for pistols or target rifles u can adjust the scope down to 3 yrds and it is very clear I have one on my pistol and a 3x9x32 for my 2250xt for the mrod I agree its a long range shooter a 4x12x50 would be nice natchez has some bushnells for 80 bucks plus the mrod is hpa =no recoil good luck

I bought a new 3-9 Bugbuster for my 850, shot it for a couple sessions then sold it.  I ended up buying a Leapers Golden Image 3-9x32 that is a couple inches longer and has much thinner crosshairs.

Benefits:
small, compact, light, clear, focuses to 3 yards, cool looking

Drawbacks:
need setback rings as it sat too far forward, THICK crosshairs that would cover up small targets at 20-30 yards (not good for target/small target shooting).

Sorry, I know I'm picking on a crowd favorite, but I don't like the BugBuster.

Here's why:
  -  The eye relief is only about 2 inches, so you have to be able to get REALLY close to the scope for a good picture.
  -  I don't think the optics are all that great;  the picture is hazy, and while it may be in focus in the center, the edges are out of focus.
  -  The reticles are really thick; fine for really short range plinking, but not for shooting beyond 25 or 30 meters.

These are my personal experiences, so maybe I got a lemon, but I won't buy another one...
