Disco: Can see pellet in flight

When I shoot my 22 cal  Disco I can see the pellet in flight going to the target. Does this happen to anyone else? I don't have a chrony but, the pellet goes through a 3/4 pine board at 25 yards.The pellets are 14.3 grain. Just strange to see the pellet in flight.

I have had that happen too when shooting a PCP outdoors. Never seen it happen indoors. I think the sun has to be in just the right position to reflect of the back of the pellet.  Crosman pellets (which are more shiny) with the shallow skirt seem to reflect the most. Seeing the reflection doesn't mean it has a low velocity.

Yes it happens outside and with crosman pellets like you said. Just weird to see them in flight.

It`s a cool sight.  I`ve seen that when I was shooting my .177 Gamo Big Cat with a broken spring (Turns out it was already in 4 sections!!!) and my .22 Air Arms S410SL on very low power (500fps).  The light have to be just right and the speed of the pellets abit slow (In my two cases).

I hope its not shooting slow. Just got it. Goes through 3/4" pine no problem at 25 yards.

Ray if its going thru 3/4 board at 25 yards its on the money. Pine isnt real tough but complete pass thru at 25 yards is right about 20 fpe +/-

I've just got my 850 adjusted to 900fps average (chrono'd) and see pellets in flight frequently with my scope on 9X.  I've been pellet testing the past week and have gone through 14 types of pellets and can see them all in flight.  Shooting at white paper targets helps as well as the sun to your back, but isn't necessary.  The pellets that fly straight and fastest are the toughest for me to see.  Some of the heavier and wadcutter pellets spiral violently and you can trace them to impact.  As mentioned before, the Crosmans are brighter and you can see the sun reflect off the back of the base.  The other pellets are either black or have a conical inside and just appear as black spots in flight.

its a normal thing, specially in PCP. you do not have any recoils so you never loose focus on your line of sight. it is not an indication of velocity at all. I can see them in my disco and it shoots the .177 cp heavies at 868 fps... also on my S200 (850 fps with JSB) it is a combination of using high magnification with a sunny day and a recoiless rifle. would not worry.

Ray; My Disco at 711 w/Kodiak's can see pellet w/big loupy arc all the way to target at any distance outside. MDR at 840w/kodiaks same thing still looks loupy to Me but crony don't lie.....Franky

Yeah Fannky funny ha, just not used to seeing them in flight. I can sight my scope in this way, well get close anyway.

Lighting has a little to do with it but the velocity and size of the pellets the main thing.
