Bushnell Banner 6-24x40 mil-dot
« on: July 14, 2007, 01:19:09 PM »
I just received one yesterday. My first impression of the scope was very positive. All the controls are very smooth and the optics are very good. The mil-dot reticule will take some getting used to as the dots are larger than my Leapers scopes. The larger dots may create a problem during FT shooting. I only mounted this scope for a short period of time today as I am waiting for the mount I ordered to come in.

The covered target turrets are easy to operate with positive sharp clicks. Optically this scope suffers in low light conditions a higher magnifications at close range. The first reason would be it only has a 40mm objective. The second reason is it's length with only a 1inch tube.  I did test it on 12 power in low light conditions at 20 yards and it will work. I also tested it at 24 power at 100 yards in low light and it worked well. I'm going to do some more test this week as I'm on vacation. I want to test it down to 10 yards to see which power setting is its limit. I'm also going to test the mil-dot to see what the smallest hole is before the dot will cover it up.

I bought this scope to be used in FT Hunter class on my B-40. When my mount and pellets show up I will post the results. Feel free to email me with questions.

Save you money and get the 5-15 legend mil dot. It has better optics and is a 1.5" shorter. Unless you are going to shoot piston class FT it's to much scope. It starts to gray out after 16 x even in the open sunlight not as bad as some cheaper Barfskas and BSA's and others. The B-40 is geometrically the same as the TX 200 so unless you were willing to put the scope on high rings it is a PITA to load that little pellet. I'm having a hell of a time finding another mil dot scope for some of my other guns. The Legend is wining hands down based on optics features and price. The only thing that comes close is non mil dot and 400.00. Not a bad scope but better for PCP or bolt CO 2. JMO
