Great question Paul. I bought a Gamo 4-pack pellett combo a few years back and it included a tin of round lead pellets. DO NOT SHOOT THEM IN YOUR GAMO'S and / or any other rifled barrel air gun. They might be OK on a Crosman 760 Pumpmaster but not in a springer!

Just my 2c!!!

I have sitting in front of me a Gamo pistol, I think it's a P15.  This particular gun is designed to shoot .177 round balls only, not steel bb's, not pellets.  As a matter of fact you can't load a pellet into it, it's magazine fed (sortof), and with no magnet the steel bb's would just roll out of the barrel.  Don't know of any other gun that these are made for, but I'm sure they work well in something else.

I have never used them,in air guns, but would think if they were made by Gamo ,they would aleast come out with a lead ball that would shoot well in their own guns. I would like to try them ,but after reading first post ,not sure now , any more opions,Thanks

If they are lead, How would you load them in a pumpmaster? Shes magnet fed.

Also, Is there any notable deferences with bbs like there are with pellets? Other than the obvious, lead and steel.

Randy, I have an older pumpmaster that you can load a lead pellet manually. I never tried a lead ball in it though. But I do remember loading a Gamo lead ball in a Gamo S1K and it seemed to disintegrate in the barrel when I shot it. Thinking it was a defect in the lead ball I tried another one with the same results. It would seem to me that Gamo would put some kind of warning on the package of these lead balls concerning the issues with them. Funny thing is that I have not seen the lead balls advertised anywhere in quite some time. Maybe someone else can ring in on the "lead ball" thing. 8)

Well Dan you answered a big question about those lead balls. I bought a Gamo 4-pack of pellets a few years back that included Gamo match, hunter, magnum pellets, and the last package was a tin of lead balls. No warning about usage with the lead balls on the package. After firing 2 lead balls in my S1K, I recall using a push-rod through the barrel to get the pieces out and then ran about 5-6 cleaning patches through it to completely clean the rest of the mess up.  :emoticon:

Ah its an older one. Do you have a scope on it? Without one, I could, but its near impossible to do with a scope on top. Do you put them in pellet feader? I was thinking about the BB feader that takes it out of the "clip" in the back. I don't think you can put lead in there, as it will just drop out and you'll dry fire it.

Randy, my gun came with no clip or scope or a way to mount one. As I said before it is an older gun probably around 12-15 years old now. I load the pellet by pulling back the magnetic feeder and just place the pellet in the slot and then push the feeder forward to load the pellet into the breech. I notice that with the newer crosmans you cannot load individual pellets in this manner. You need to use the clip that comes with the gun. Hope this helps!

Ah, I see. I can't do that with mine, the pellet won't stay, and I've lost the clip :( I also broke my rear sight off in a rag, so I had to resort to a cheap, worthless, scope. I was much better with the sight. Got any pictures? I'm curious as to what the old model looks like.

After doing a little thinking about it,the round ball ,because it is round is a very accurate projectile but only if used with a patch of correct thickness, a round ball in a airgun is to loose and if it did make contact with lands in barrel ,it would deform the ball enough to could bad flight. I heard of people using them ,so i thought i would ask, i don,t think i will be trying them. Thanks for all comments ,Paul
