Made a Air Rifle Wall/Floor rack for a few of my hurd..
« on: March 30, 2008, 11:21:33 AM »

Well we finally got the spare room cleaned and painted and I had a couple hours last week to make that gun rack for my air rifles. I have about 30 rifles but the rack I made only holds 15.. I plan on buying or making a 4 rifle rack for above the rack I made. These the ones on the rack are the ones I shoot every week. Just seems like yesterday when I bought my first S1K and thought that was all I needed.. LOL Now I am a full fledged air gun addict and no hope for recovery in sight..:) Enjoy the pics.

Very nice rack for your hunnys Gene. That little HW30 sure does look pretty with the Bushy Trophy on her, perched next to the Lightning and the HW50.

Gene, I like the disign of your rack.  Looks simple to make but very functional.  How is the base anchored?  Or is it?

I used two way tape on the bottom. I did not want to nail it to the floor..:) Seems to work fine and does not move...:)

Your rack turned out great Gene. Is that the stain you said was called gun stock? You may want to go with a 2-3 gun rack for over the top, with a 4 the top one might be a stretch to get down. I've got a 2 gun rack that my uncle made for me years ago, if you want I'll make a pattern and send you.

Hey thanks Mike, but I think I will be buying the one for over the top..:) They are cheap enough.. Remember I am over 6' tall and have very long arms... hehe... So 4 would not be a problem..:) Would put the lighter ones up there.. Gene

Look at them closely, sometimes the 4 racks are very tight for scoped rifles. The ones I've seen are almost the same hight as a 3, just closer together.

Well done Gene,

I like it almost as much as mine :)

Wasn't it fairly easy to build for such a convenient rack? It took me maybe two hours.

I did bevel the bottom base to keep the butts from twisting. I'm also thinking of varying the height of the base to accommodate my shorter guns.

I especially like your choice in stain color, I used what I had in the basement.

Brilliant minds think alike!

For those of you that want suggestions for some measurements for you own wall rack I'll post some picks. Of course you can make it as short or as long as you wish.

Here it is with the four gun rack above it.

Hey Gene, Now You're probably dusting as much as I am. I think I liked it before the closet got full.

Dan, you did inspire me to build my rack..:) It looked so simple so I gave it a whirl..:) I placed an order for a 4 gun top rack from StoneyPoint. They are unfinished so I can stain it the same. Do not know if it will come out the same color though. In fact the one I bought looks just like yours..:) :D Gene

If you used pine for your floor/wall rack I don't see why not? Both of mine are pine.

The wall rack came from an E-bay seller who had different styles and woods. I picked pine. http://stores.ebay.com/Quality-Gun-Racks-For-Less

Those dam wall racks all look alike.I ordered one from WallMarts site Ship to Store and when home I realized it was made to hold guns upside down!! Thankfully I only had to drive a mile to return it.
